Foxtel is SHIT! Her’es my story about trying to get my foxtel working. Works, breaks, replaced, not activated, works, not activated. IM GOING NUTS HERE…….
About a week and a half ago I get home from work and go to turn on the TV to watch some foxtel. I get a message about there being no signal. I tried turning it off and on blah blah, tried the old hold select and back for 2 seconds which also goes through some reboot process….no go!
Time to call foxtel and find out what’s going on. Got through fine, spoke to the lady who said try turning it off unplugging the cables from the satellite, wait 30 seconds, plug them back in, turn it back on…..no go!
So she tells me that they will need to send a technician out next week to to have a look at it, oh and make sure that I am home between 12:00pm and 5:00pm!! You would think they could narrow it down a bit more than that, anyway this is the 2nd time I’ve had to have my Foxtel box replaces so I kinda know the drill.
Fast forward to Wednesday Feb 13th…
I leave work around 11:50 and rush home to make sure I don’t miss the technician, they might not return for another week, who knows? Sitting around waiting, the technician arrives around 4:30pm. He had a quick look and pretty much just swapped the box over for a new one and explained that he has called it through to Foxtel who would need to update their system so that my Foxtel card works on the new IQ box, it should take an hour or so for this to happen.
I ended up going out for dinner, and got home about 9:00pm, foxtel still has a message on the screen about my card not being authorised for this box. I called Foxtel can get the following ANNOYING message:
Welcome to Foxtel.
We’ve recently completed an upgrade to our customer service sytems its taking a little longer than usual to handle customer enqueries while our service representatives find their feet with the new systems. As a result we’re experiencing delays in answering calls which we expect to continue for the rest of the week.
If your enquiry is not urgent we’d greatly appreciate you calling back at a another time.
Thankyou for your patience as we attempt to answer all calls as quickly as possible
For techincal enquiries press 2
For technical enq about foxtel iq press 2
If you’re experienceing technical difficulties please perform the following actions:
Swtich the power, to your foxtel set top unit, off at the power point
After 30 seconds, switch the powerpoint back on
Wait another 30 seconds, then press the foxtel button on your foxtel remote control
Picture and sound should return after a few seconds
To hear these instructions again, press 8

And then they just hang up. I continue to try and call them until midnight when the centre closes and didn’t get through once.. THIS IS GETTING VERY FUCKING ANNOYING.
Wake up in the morning and still not working. Call them again, SAME SHIT AS ABOVE. Can’t get through, they just hang up.
Had to go to work, end up calling them around 4:30 in the afternoon. I amazinly get through, only to be told that all their systems have just crashed and they can’t check the status of ANYTHING. They basically couldn’t do a thing. I go home and find that foxtel is working. So finally its all back and working, all the channels were active and no problems.
You would think that would be the end of this story, yeah me too……
I come home from work today and the same god damn message about the foxtel card not being authorised for this box comes up which I was getting 2 days ago… How can it get updated and start working and then stop working again. ARGHHHHHH. I try to call them and get the same message again. You just can’t get through to anyone that might be able to help, there is no queue nothing, just hang up on you.
I’ve probably made like 40 odd calls trying to get through to them. It’s crazy and it’s still not working. I’ll try and call them again soon and report back. Might have to go Ari Gold.
